What is Channelling? How Tapping into Higher Wisdom Can Elevate Your Spiritual Business
In my work with Soulful Solopreneurs, I see practitioners of all kinds awakening to their authentic channelling gifts—and no, that doesn't just mean being a medium. When we stop simply following the templates of modalities we've learned and begin honoring what wants to come through us uniquely, the impact of our work magnifies. We reach the people we're truly here to serve.
So let's explore how you might already be a channel in your spiritual business, and why it matters.
What does it mean to be a channel?
To be a channel is to be a bridge between the seen and unseen. It's allowing something—insight, messages, beauty, energy, healing—to come through you, rather than from your personality or conscious mind. Channelling isn't limited to classical mediumship. In fact, many of you are channelling in quiet, powerful ways that don't fit the usual mold.
Visionary Channel
Being a visionary channel means receiving a vision for how things might be done differently—and having the courage to embody or articulate that in the world. It might be ideas, information, energy, or simply presence that wants to move through you.
Some of these visionaries I've worked with aren't souls originally from Earth. Others are neurodiverse, or deeply connected to realms like the angelic, fae, or frequency-based beings. They naturally see differently, and yes, that often makes life on Earth feel challenging. But their very difference is what supports our collective evolution.
Here are some of the visionary channels I've been honored to witness:
Artistic Visionary – They channel light and healing through their creations. People leave tearful, touched, and in some cases, transformed by their art.
Cultural Bridge Visionary – They weave the wisdom of two distinct cultures into something new. Their work uplifts and evolves their communities by bridging worlds.
Interconnecting Visionary – A public figure who sees nuance in a charged issue. Grounded in their own healing, they hold perspective with clarity, not reactivity—offering insight and advocacy that cuts through chaos.
New World Visionary – Someone who draws together diverse strands of knowledge to shape a new way of living—often off-grid, nature-based, beyond systems. Their work is integrative, fluid, and deeply timely.
New Way of Being Visionary – A healer emerging with the frequency of another realm. Their very presence gently slows the pace, inviting others into a more spacious, attuned rhythm of life. Their medicine lies as much in who they are as in what they do.
Being a visionary doesn't mean you need a manifesto or a movement. Sometimes you're quietly seeding new ways of seeing, connecting the dots that others haven't noticed yet, or simply embodying a way of being that invites something softer, deeper, freer.
You might be a visionary—and a channel—without even realizing it.

Healing Channel
As healers, we're naturally channels. Whether you see it as being a conduit for healing energy or creating space for the client's body to heal itself, there's something flowing through us in this work. What I keep noticing with the healers who find me is that beyond whatever modalities they've trained in, there's something else—a natural gift or connection that wants to work with them or through them. And sometimes, it's getting blocked.
Here's what I've been witnessing:
A bodyworker with fae past life memories and this deep nature connection who feels called to support their clients' healing in ways that go beyond technique.
A masseur discovering they can slip into trance states and channel a shamanic guide, plus they have this gift for connecting with people's deceased loved ones.
A newly trained healer realizing they're actually channeling star consciousness.
An earth healer being pulled home to reforest land, able to communicate directly with plants.
A counsellor who's also a mystic, bringing through beings from other realms. A frequency healer working without any teacher—pioneering something that simply can't be learned in school.
A bodyworker downloading a completely new modality for healing and earth activation through community work.
A practitioner who holds the most profound space for grief with such loving compassion.
A practitioner channeling fierce divine feminine consciousness that's incredibly powerful.
So many of the healers I work with can sense there's more available—this current running beneath their trained modality that doesn't fit any traditional framework. Some know they're blocking what wants to come through because it doesn't match what they were taught they "should" be doing.

Messenger Channel
Not all the emerging channels I work with are alternative therapists. Some are academics, counsellors, teachers, researchers, and other professionals going through a consciousness transformation. They're engaging in healing work to support this shift while realizing they need to change professions as this 'something' emerges from within them.
For some, there's a message that wants to move through them—they're the channel allowing this to happen. Here's what I'm seeing:
An academic awakening to their passion for food, called to share the skill and value of homegrown, home-cooked meals that bring families and communities together. They're a messenger channel for generational food wisdom from multiple cultures, passing this magic to the next generation.
A professional with this powerful connection to nature's energy and essence—they can actually speak with her. There's this calling to become a nature guide, teaching others to understand nature's language, to converse and connect with her directly. They're nature's messenger.
A professional working through personal transformation to discover their authentic self, becoming a channel for dynamic, nurturing, heart-centered collective conversations. They're called to work with conferences and companies, sharing how we can run and structure organizations and societies that are genuinely green and sustainable—not just lip service.
Being a messenger channel often builds on skills that are already part of your personality: your ability to connect with people, hold space, inspire. It connects to your passions, knowledge, and relationships—things you're naturally able to share. Sometimes you have a gift for teaching, spreading a message through your spiritual work.

How to develop and apply intuitive intelligence to business as a soulful entrepreneur
Why it matters for your business
If you're not embracing your deepest channelling gifts, you're leaving your most powerful assets on the table. And yet, so many people do this—every single day. Why?
Why You Might Be Blocking It:
You're not fully tapped into the information streaming through you, so you feel unsure—you don't trust it or embrace it. There's fear of living differently, so you unconsciously (or consciously) shut it down. Sometimes a new layer of wounding surfaces: fear of visibility, being seen, stepping into your power. You doubt your own authority, feeling like you "don't know what you're doing" outside your known modalities, when actually you're being called to follow your own intuitive blueprint.
The Benefits of Reclaiming Your Gift:
Deep, transformative impact in your practice—your clients feel the shift and results become more powerful. This sense that things finally "make sense"—a return to clarity, peace, your true self. Soul-satisfying connection with the universe and your higher self, contributing to consciousness evolution. Liberation from self-doubt and playing small—you feel grounded, guided, in your power. Natural flow in your business as the universe supports you in finding your aligned audience and creating offers that truly resonate.
In every case I've witnessed, the journey of opening to what you're here to channel means stepping into and being your most authentic self. This enables you to become the most impactful and effective channel while learning to live intuitively. For most of us, this involves inner healing work (yes, even if you've already done 20 years of it) to support this next evolutionary step—helping you become the person you're meant to be so you can deliver and channel the work.
