The personal transformation and letting go required to discover your soul mission
When we think about growing into our potential (which is required to discover and deliver our Soul mission as a Lightbearer) we can often think of ‘becoming’ or ‘building’ or ‘creating’. However, for this to happen, we may frequently discover that we have some letting go to do on different levels, such as - our old sense of self, baggage on an emotional level, beliefs that no longer serve us, physically - life situations to leave and so on.
We need to prepare the field to lay the foundations of our work. To get to where we need to be we might need to do some clearing out or perhaps some demolishing before the restructure happens! We need to make way for it to happen, because quite honestly, you’re likely to not be ready yet. You’re not the person you need to be to deliver the mission, YET.
You might be saying - ‘hit me with my purpose - with my soul mission!’, however the universe is thinking - ‘hum…. you are not ready yet for what you signed up for, for that to happen’ or ‘you are not where you need to be’, there’s some work to be done! So what does this look like?
Identity shift
I remember bumping into a friend's mum in the street one day and having a very brief conversation. She had known me for perhaps 10 years, but probably hadn’t seen me for maybe three years. She said at the time she barely recognised me (yet there was no big physical change). A few days later, my friend messaged to relay how shocked and delighted her mum was at how much I changed - that she couldn't believe the level of transformation in me, my confidence and grounding so on, that wasn't there in the same way before.
I remember this feeling very validating, as a lot had changed, quietly, slowly, under the radar, clearing my trauma symptoms at the time, which became unnoticeable due to its gradual nature to most of those close to you. It's this level of identity shift that is often required to happen for us to become the person we need to be to deliver the soul mission work we're here to do. Yet this doesn't happen overnight. The seed of potential is there, but we have to do the inner work to manifest it. What the inner work is for me is every new internal hurdle I come across when it comes to personal expansion.
For example, when I finally felt ready to create a course (after years of work), and knew what it should be teaching, a layer of fear popped up that I was unaware of around working with groups and being visible. It became so paralysing I would shake when I thought about it and I couldn't write the training. These are not conscious fears that I have to work with day to day at all, so it was a real surprise to me.
However, I didn't take this as a sign that I shouldn't do the work, it was a sign there was work to be done. It was a layer of inner friction that I needed to resolve to crack on. So I made that my focus for two or three months in the healing sessions I received and then I felt the shift and I started writing. For me this inner resistance doesn't mean no don’t do it, it means address this layer to move forward with greater ease and confidence.
To reach our goals, the process can require change in oneself to complete the task at hand, to keep moving forward. This self transformation can feel, well, laborious sometimes, it’s an unseen and unsexy task that takes time, with new layers popping up which you weren’t expecting! Yet how much better we feel within ourselves is so freeing it is well worth the effort.
Of course, we can have breakthrough moments or a transformational series of sessions, but sustainable change is often chipped away at even with this. It takes discipline and commitment to significantly change or heal our wounding. However therein lies the depth of our wisdom and knowledge - that we recover or change AND we know that it is possible, which maybe something we help others with. You become the wounded healer in some form.
What does this look like?
It means plugging away through different stages of self healing from moving beyond survival mode into great states of expansion:
Moving beyond your trauma responses and symptoms
Releasing beliefs that no longer serve you whether they are your own or inherited and this then allows you to shift your perspective
Shifting to higher frequencies of love by letting go of negative emotions and patterns
Releasing past life karma, contracts and vows
We have activations or initiations which shift our level of consciousness or subtle awareness
And so on, (whatever your approach might be)
With all this, what happens is this old sense of self starts to drop away and we begin to inhabit a new way of being which is when, at a certain stage, the universe will turn around to say ‘now you are ready’. This is exactly what happened to me a year or so ago - I was minding my own business, focusing on my goals, when suddenly I started channelling information regarding Light Bearers with Soul missions… I thought, what on earth is this?
All my guides were giddy with excitement, the energy was intense, as they told me, this is what I signed up for, and I was ready to share the information. I had NO IDEA that this was what I was meant to be doing (!). However apparently I was ready, I guess in many ways, but I was also ‘evolved’ enough now to do the work. Often our guides are waiting for us to be ready, so do the inner work to continually shift your levels of consciousness. Of course this shift can also include perspective shifting training, supportive mentoring and so on, which all feeds into the shifting identity.
Letting go of structures: developing new skills
Part of this, letting go of an old identity can mean moving towards a new way of living. This might mean letting go or stepping out of roles/jobs within communities or systems or modalites, that we currently hold but which no longer serve you, so are holding you back in some form from what you need to be doing. Well it certainly was the case for me.
For some, yet not all (Lightbearers with a soul mission) you’ll be a trailblazer… working from a map of your own creation. Not following someone else's. However, this can mean stepping into the unknown, which can feel deeply uncomfortable and unsettling, because no one is giving us the answers we have to discover them for ourselves.
Your particular set of skills or insight might not sit neatly into a certain framework that is generally used - be that spiritual, healing, business, and so on . I know this for myself but also I see it regularly in clients. For example, I see many coaches or healers who are sometimes working with one hand tied behind their back because they are following the format or model generally used in their modality and are not utilising their own unique animate gifts.
There is not only one way of doing something. If something feels like an ill fitting coat, then that is information for you to listen to. For me, it was the voice saying ‘I think there's another way of doing this that's more powerful…’ or ‘this doesn't feel right or quite makes sense to me. I don't want to take that approach’...’I feel as though it is possible to heal this, but not like this for me’ ‘I’m getting close - but this isn’t ‘it’!’ and so on.
This is a sign that you know another way or that you have a skill set that you've not activated yet because you are following an approach you’ve been taught, because it was a foundation or a stepping stone - not the final stop. Here are a few examples of this for you…
I have one client who has finished her training recently, but has felt that the fit just doesn’t feel right for them and as we work together, I told her she has the ability to channel star consciousness healing, that this is the work she is able to excel at with practice.
I have a client who is a highly proficient practitioner in two different modalities, but actually has the natural capability to be a healing vessel and trance healer for a spirit guide as well as communicate with loved ones who have died.
For me, I did multiple healing, modality, trainings in Shiatsu, EFT and hypnosis etc, but it took an activation in a conscious realisation that I was a channel, for me to drop the other methods and explore my own approach, which turned out to be much more effective and powerful for me to practise personally.
However, the process of stepping into a space where our true power lies can feel scary. It can mean stepping away from role models, mentors and particular communities to try to figure out, and develop your own way of working.
So how do we do this?
We listen to our intuition as our guide. If you have a sense that more is possible, then it is! That is information for you. However, listening to our intuition does not mean feeling warm and fuzzy all the time - having all the answers, oh no. Sometimes it can feel like jumping into a jeep with a crazy uncle who takes you off down the beaten track down some scary ass, big hills with surprise giant boulders, whilst you scream!
Why does it feel like this? Because the ego fears change, and yet the soul wants to learn, develop and be stretched - to follow its mission. You're not here to be ‘comfortable’, by this I mean hide and live small. You're here to grow and follow your chosen path, which means pushing yourself in different ways which means being daring, having doubt and fear yet doing it anyway. You have to learn to live intuitively which means being courageous.
We all have our doubts or personal blocks foreshadowing our potential and stopping us listening to our intuition which is why it's important to do that inner work. For example, one day I channelled for a friend who is a writer during a drive, as her guides were desperate to talk to her. She had four book ideas however her perfectionism and procrastination was blocking her from writing. When this came up, her spirit guides simply said ‘No one said it would be easy, but do it anyway’.
So I now say it to you, follow the inner whisper, listen to the inner tug to stop or the nudge to go, listen to that itch or that calling… You are seeded already with what you need to do as your soul mission and the skills you naturally have to give - let your intuition be your guide to take you there. Remembering ‘No one said it would be easy, but do it anyway’.
