What is EFT?
Emotional Freedom Technique, or Tapping, combines the principles of modern psychology and Chinese acupressure to create a powerful healing technique.
As you tap on a simple series of acupuncture points, you tune into a particular emotional state or experience. The tapping sends calming signals to the brain whilst you process and release the unresolved negative emotional tension that remains held in your subconscious mind and in your body.

“I was able to express parts of me that might not normally feel safe or 'OK' to express, and able to allow all parts of me to have a voice. It was very healing and empowering. It has been an embodied experience - transforming the energy behind patterns or beliefs”.

ABOUT EFT
How does it work?
Our subconscious mind is in the driving seat of our emotional, mental and physical reactions 93% of the time with the conscious mind affecting only 7%! This is why it can feel impossible to create truly significant or lasting change when working only with the conscious mind. Processing at the subconscious level allows an emotional evolution to arise, freeing you from the past.
It helps you to create positive shifts to allow new ways of thinking to emerge. Tapping becomes a safe bridge to healing what has become bound in the subconscious, from challenging or traumatic life events, and it allows our system to return to a natural state of rest and resilience, leaving you feeling empowered, calm and happy.
Sounds like magic? I’ve heard my clients call it that!
Alongside the EFT, I seamlessly integrate Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Hypnosis and somatic awareness techniques to deepen our sessions, transform limiting beliefs and support positive personal transformation.

Our Sessions
The sessions are conversational, we tap as we talk. You may have a specific issue you’d like to work on or maybe something has recently arisen that you’d like to explore straight away. We work in dialogue, so responding to whatever you need. I usually ask questions as we work, flagging up key phrases or responses, helping you explore more deeply. I’ll pick up on cues and help you to follow the thread back to unhelpful beliefs created by certain memories.
Together we will work gradually to clear any negative emotional charge, to change your perspective, emotional responses and your physical reactions. Although we might be dealing with challenging sensations or experiences, clients are often surprised by how much they’re able to laugh during sessions!

How does EFT safely work with overwhelming memories?
When working with challenging memories, we use a number of NLP dissociative techniques to safely enable processing; these techniques keep you anchored in the present.
We can also clear heightened emotional responses without disclosing the content of the memory when this feels too uncomfortable. By tapping through and clearing the reactions - allowing them to discharge - the memory loses its power and response in the present. If memories are not available, we can work through the sensations in the body and associated beliefs. I am always sensitive to your needs at the time.
Got a question?
How many EFT sessions will I need?
As individuals with our own unique history, I can’t give you a timeline for change. However, I can say you’re likely to feel the effects just from the first session and by the sixth, I usually see more significant shifts occurring. The process of healing unfolds differently for each of us.
How often should I have EFT sessions?
This is up to you. Some clients want them weekly, others have them monthly. It largely depends on your needs, circumstances and preference. If you’re currently suffering intense emotional responses, I may suggest you have them weekly or bi-weekly for at least a short while. Then we can start to spread them out as you progress and feel better.
You can always schedule a block of sessions so you have a rhythm, which can feel very supportive, or just book ‘as and when’ – it’s flexible. Some clients find, for example, when their acute symptoms ease, that they still want to continue with EFT to aid the further transformation of limiting views. Others may want a gap and to return later when they have a particular issue or relationship they want to work on. Some like ongoing sessions as regular therapy to continue clearing a host of blocks. It is very individual.
